- DO stay calm and try to reassure your child
- If your child has swallowed one or several BUTTON BATTERIES, goto the EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT IMMEDIATELY
- DO seek medical advice immediately
- DO bring the bottle, packet or whatever it is they’ve eaten or swallowed with you- it will help us to help your child
- DON’T put your fingers down your child’s throat to make them vomit
How do you stop your child from getting hold of something they shouldn’t have in the house
- Remember to keep medicines and household substances LOCKED AWAY and OUT OF REACH from little hands
- DO always remember to put the lids back on medicine bottles after using them
- DO remember that many things we use around the house look appealing to young children- for example, liquid tablets for washing clothes can look like sweets KEEP THEM LOCKED AWAY!
- DO think about locks on cupboards and medicine cabinets
