So your child has a high temperature- do you need to worry?
If your child is under 3 months old and you have recorded a temperature above 38 degrees centrigrade, you need to bring them to see a medical professional
In children, the temperature itself isn’t harmful. It is their body’s way of trying to fight off an infection
So if they are hot but happy, they don’t necessarily have to have medicine
How can I bring my child’s temperature down to normal?
Keeping your child in very light clothes when at home can help a temperature reduce naturally
If they need it, you can also give paracetamol (Calpol) as per the instructions on the bottle
If your child is still hot and upset with a temperature even though they are stripped off and had paracetamol, they can also be given ibuprofen. Make sure you follow the instructions on the medicine you are giving
It is recommended NOT to give ibuprofen to children with chickenpox, as this can make them very sick
