Don’t panic
Sit them down with some tissues, lean them slightly forwards and pinch over the harder part of the nose (the middle area where the bone stops)
If your child has haemophilia or a bleeding disorder and you have been told to bring them to the hospital with a nose bleed then bring them in
If your child’s nose stops bleeding within 20 minutes and they have no other problems they can be managed at home
It is important that once your child’s nose has stopped bleeding that they don’t pick their nose and don’t blow their nose as this may start it bleeding again
If their nose continues to bleed for over 20 minutes despite applying pressure they should be brought to a medical professional for assessment
